What Is This?

Fill The Void is a charity effort derived from the FOODNOUNS DAO. FOODNOUNS is a derivative project of the NounsDAO centered around food. Every 8 hours, a new FOODNOUN is born and auctioned off as an NFT. The auction proceeds are put in a community treasury and each owner of a FOODNOUN has the ability to submit proposals and vote to decide how to spend the funds that accumulate over time.

All of the FOODNOUNS art is centered around food with the exception of one.

The Void.

The Void is meant to be a reminder that not everyone in the world has sufficient food to eat. It’s a reminder for each of us to be thankful to have food in our homes to sustain us and to fuel the celebrations of life, but at the same time to remember that there is still much work to be done to make sure that all can share in that celebration.

Fill The Void is seeking to do just what our name says. When we see a need in the world, we should strive to do our part to make sure that the need is taken care of.

Our intention is to have a small campaign whenever a new Void is minted. For 8 hours, we’ll promote our mission to reduce food insecurity throughout the world. We’ll encourage our friends throughout NFT communities to come together to donate and participate in the Void auction. When the auction is complete, every Void holder will meet to decide on a project to support with the money raised. When a consensus is reached, we’ll fund the project, do follow up, and report the impact of the donations to each person who helped.

Our mission simply stated, is that with every new Void minted, the Void in the world would shrink.

What is the Void?

In 2022, approximately 9 million people will die from starvation and as many as 829 million people will often go to bed hungry.

Millions more live in food insecurity and communities across the world live in proverbial ‘food deserts’ without access to fresh fruits, vegetables, and other healthy food options. 

The task to fill that void is massive and we know that we aren’t able to meet all of that  need. Instead, our hope is that the Nouns community can come together in some small way to help people in various ways across the world. If we all work together, we can do our part to Fill The Void.
